REQUEST FOR REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION
Usually, an employer considers reasonable accommodation when the employee requests it. It can be formal, informal, written, or verbal, and the employee does not need to use the magic words “reasonable accommodation”. On rare occasions an employee does not initiate the request, but the employee’s supervisor or coworker are aware that the employee has a disability and know or have reason to believe that the employee is having work performance problems because of the disability. This is also a request for reasonable accommodation. Accommodation requests require that evaluations be made on a case-by-case basis with attention to the unique features of each case. All requests for reasonable accommodation must be addressed.
