New Behavior Intervention Technicians must work towards a minimum of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certificate granted by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
A Registered Behavior Technician is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a Behavior Intervention Specialist with a current BCBA certification or a Behavior Case Manager with a current BCaBA Certification. The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services.
RBT candidates are provided with training through Hi Rasmas modules. Please sign up for an account on Hi Rasmas once you get your Google account login information. You must complete the 40-hour training modules within the first 6 months of your hire date.
RBT Training in Hi Rasmas - create an account so that RBT training modules can be assigned.
BACB - RBT Page - get a copy of the handbook, ethics code, and RBT task list
Next, a qualified member of the Behavior Intervention Team member (BCBA or BCaBA) checks for demonstrated competency on training materials.
As an RBT applicant, you need to start taking training modules through Hi Rasmus as soon as you are hired.
A self-monitoring checklist has been created to ensure you are on track to complete all 40 hours of training during the first 6 months of starting your new position as a Behavior Intervention Technician. More information about the RBT application process may be found at the bottom of the pacing guide.
As you start your training you will need to fill out a supervision log and maintain it a minimum of weekly. Your supervision log will track if you have at least 5% of the time you are working supervised by a member of the Behavior Team. A Supervision log will be created for you and you will be sent a link.
