As an RBT here is what you need to do:
If you are working towards your RBT or maintaining your credential, the requirements below are the same for Behavior Technicians and Behavior Case Managers.
All Behavior Intervention Technicians and Behavior Case Managers are required to have an RBT credential as a minimum qualification.
You must fill out RBT supervision logs daily after you enter all student data.
RBT supervision logs must be filled out completely for the week before you leave on Friday.
RBT Job Duties that Require Supervision
These activities are determined by their supervisor(s) and may include:
Working directly with a student in the classroom.
Assisting with functional behavior assessments.
Conducting preference assessments, implementing teaching procedures, and generating session notes, among others.
RBT Supervision Activities
(round to the nearest 15 minutes when entering your time)
Any reading material provided by your supervisors (log from when you start reading to when you end and anything you write -i.e. Questions about what you’ve read).
Reading info on the website.
Watching RBT modules.
Providing videos (log from when you start watching to when you stop and anything you write about it).
Emails about student programming.
Phone calls.
Text messages.
Recording yourself working with a student on video.
Reading feedback from a video observation.
RBT Supervision Requirements
Face-to-face meetings are required per month.
One face-to-face contact with a student is required per month - can be over video conferencing - one of the two supervision sessions must be individual.
Small group meetings - no more than 10 RBTs - (there are currently 8 RBTs during staff meetings).
Any time your data is reviewed by a Supervisor.
When you go with your RBT supervisor (identified BCBA/BCaBA) to an IEP or team meeting.
When your RBT supervisor (identified BCBA/BCaBA) reviews reports or behavior plan revisions (use timestamps to determine time).
When collaborating with your RBT supervisor (identified BCBA/BCaBA) about student progress/programming or data.
Ongoing Responsibilities for an RBT
Communicate with supervisors to ensure that you receive at least 5% of your job duties supervised per month.
Use feedback given during supervision to seek additional feedback and training
Review the RBT ethics code and RBT handbook.
RBT Monthly Supervision Tracker
RBT's will update this form at the end of each day.
This form will give RBT's ongoing feedback about whether or not they are meeting the supervision requirements for each month.
Filling out this form also gives supervisors instant feedback about how much supervision is required for each month.
Complete all maintenance requirements every year:
Track your hours using the monthly tracking sheet and maintain the minimum supervision ratio each month.
Complete the RBT Renewal Competency Assessment
Submit complete renewal applications on the required schedule via the RBT Renewal Application, including all necessary fees, attestations, and reporting requirements. BACB Renewal Page
Adhere to the BACB’s ethics requirements identified as relevant to RBTs
Have a Responsible Certificant on record with the BACB
Pay the annual renewal fee of $35
