Level 1 Behavior Support Plan

Special Education Students

For Students who have an IEP a teacher or School Psychologist may complete a Level 1 Behavior Support Plan for a student. 

A level 1 Behavior Support Plan is:

• A definition of the problem behavior and replacement behavior that is measurable and observable. Obtained by a review of records and/or asking the teacher questions.

• Baseline frequency and progress is determined by indirect screening tools and records review (teacher interview, PowerSchool logs, work samples etc.)

• A hypothesis statement is made about the possible function 

• Antecedent Interventions are often selected from pre-written list of interventions organized by category.  For a Level 1 BSP antecedent strategies should be those strategies that are available for all students in the classroom.

• Monitoring of the Level 1 BSP is done by the teacher and Administrator.
