On-site internships require interns to be physically present at the company's location, office, or designated workspace.Â
Depending on the Employer's needs, On-site internships can be Hybrid. That means that part of the internship is done in a remote setting, part on site.
Duration: minimum duration of 4 weeks and a maximum of 52
Remuneration: IAESTE provides paid internships where students receive financial support to cover essential living costs, including accommodation, meals, and local transportation. The information regarding payment is stated in the internship offer form. The remuneration should not fall below the country's minimum wage salary and also should be adjusted to keep pace with inflation. The remuneration should be sufficient to cover the basic accommodation, food and local transportation costs during the internship.
If the internship is Hybrid, then the part of the internship done in a remote way can be paid when the student is in the country (on-site).
Remote internships allow interns to work from their home with an internet connection, offering flexibility and eliminating the need for travelling.
Duration: minimum duration of 4 weeks and a maximum of 52
Remuneration: IAESTE Committees prioritise offering paid internships to ensure fair compensation for interns. However, there may be situations where legal restrictions or other factors prevent the provision of payment for remote work. In such cases, IAESTE Committees still ensure that internship placements come with compensation, although in alternative forms. This compensation is a mandatory component of the internship arrangement and is transparently communicated in the O-form.
Examples of the compensation provided for remote internships can include:
Payment of Training Courses: Interns may receive access to training courses relevant to their field of study or internship, allowing them to acquire valuable skills and knowledge.
Participation in the Publication of Scientific Articles: Interns might have the opportunity to collaborate on research projects or contribute to scientific publications, which can enhance their academic and professional credentials.
Payment of Conference Fees: Some remote internships may cover the cost of attending conferences or seminars, which can facilitate networking and learning opportunities.
Vouchers: Vouchers or gift certificates may be provided as compensation, which interns can redeem for various goods or services.
