Each Member and Cooperating Institution (IAESTE committee) collects offers from employers willing to host students from abroad for temporary training and work experience relevant to the students’ areas of study, as a complement to their university or college education. The offering companies or institutions are expected to pay students a wage sufficient to cover their cost of living during the actual training period. The internship offers are exchanged between Members and Cooperating Institutions, mainly on a reciprocal basis. Members and Cooperating Institutions, usually through their affiliated universities and colleges, select qualified students to meet the Employers’ requirements as outlined in the internship offer. Details of the selected candidates are then sent to the receiving committees who present the candidates to companies for approval. Each IAESTE committee should receive and send students, so facilitate incoming and outgoing administration processes.
The main goal is to secure internship offers from local employers (companies, universities, NGOs, startups, etc.) for foreign interns. Committees actively search for, negotiate with, and establish partnerships with employers that are willing to host international students for temporary training and work experiences in fields that match their academic studies.
If the students meet all of the criteria from the offer, then the student's nomination is submitted by the sending committee, and it's up to the receiving committee to cross-check it and forward the nomination to the employer.
If there is no suitable candidate then the offer is republished again.
You can reference the detailed information about the student nomination in the chapter Outgoing.
After receiving the nomination from the committee, the employer reviews it and decides on the next steps. If the student is accepted, they receive acceptance documents and all relevant information through their committee (sending committee). If the student is rejected, they are informed of the reasons for the rejection. They may invite the student for one or more interviews.
