The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health coverage to children and families with incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford private coverage. For more information visit CHIP.

The New Jersey Medicaid program provides health coverage to children, pregnant women, parents, seniors and individuals with disabilities. In some states the program covers all low-income adults below a certain income level. For more information visit MEDICAID.

An excellent resource is the Sussex County Office of Public Health Nursing. They can answer questions and also offer free physicals, screenings and age appropriate vaccinations for children aged 0-5 who do not have health insurance. Also in Newton, among other locations in New Jersey, is the Zufall Community Health Center.
