Attendance

If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason please call the health office on the day of the absence before 10:00 AM (973-823-7000 x 8220) and leave a detailed message that includes the reason for the absence, symptoms if ill, and the duration of absence if known.

Email notifications will not be accepted and any notes to teachers are in addition to the required phone call to my office. Once the main office posts attendance, any parents or guardians who have not called will receive an automated message reminding them to call in. Please note that all contact phone number changes must be handled directly with the main office. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Written excuses signed by the parent or guardian or doctor's notes must be received within five (5) days of the absence. Parent/guardian notes must include your child's full name. Please also submit a doctor's note when applicable. Alternately, a physician/NP note can be faxed directly from your medical provider to the school fax # 973-827-6845.

If you are unsure whether you should keep your child home, please see the attached general guidelines document. Please note that in cases of "stomach bug", your child should stay home for a minimum of two days.
