Backpacks

WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS

We can prevent injury by lightening backpack load, using the correct size (never wider or longer than the torso), have padded straps, and multiple compartments to distribute weight more evenly.

Backpacks should weigh no more than 10-15% of your child's weight when filled; therefore, a child who weighs 40 pounds should carry no more than 4-6 pounds in their backpack. Use your scale at home to check. Over filled back packs can cause back pain, shoulder pain, poor posture, and contribute to falls.
