  • Abby Frazier and Tom Giambelluca published a USDA Forest Service General Technical Report chapter titled "Managing Effects of Drought in Hawai‘i and U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands" - check it out here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/treesearch/pubs/59164

  • Tom Giambelluca, Liat Portner, Han Tseng, Matt Lucas, and Abby Frazier all presented at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting in San Francisco, Dec. 9-13, 2019. Congrats to all for successful presentations & sessions!

  • Congrats to Ryan Longman for starting his new position as a Research Fellow at the East-West Center! He will be leading a Drought Knowledge Exchange project with partners in Hawai‘i in collaboration with Pacific RISA and the Forest Service.

  • Dr. Grégoire Mariéthoz and his Ph.D. student Lionel Benoit are visiting the lab from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. While here, they are installing a network of rain gauges in Mānoa valley to study the high-temporal dynamics of rainfall in Hawai‘i. Dr. Mariéthoz presented in the Dept. of Geography and Environment fall seminar series Aug. 29, as well as the Water Resources Research Center seminar series on Sept. 10, 2019.

  • Han Tseng organized a Raindrop Size and Disdrometer workshop on Sept. 3-4, 2019, conducted by Dr. Kazuki Nanko who is visiting the lab from the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute in Japan.

  • Abby Frazier published a new fact sheet on the Economic Costs of Drought in Hawai‘i.

  • Congratulations to Tom Giambelluca on starting his new position as Director of the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC), effective August 1, 2019!
