Grades vs Proficiency Levels
Grades do not define the student, but rather students define the grade.

In order for parent/guardians to check a student's progress reports, they will need to create a Parent Aspire Account. All siblings can be accessed from the same account and the account follows your child through graduation in the Garfield County School District. Directions are included below. If help is needed, Ms. Tari at the front desk can help walk you through the process.
Our school has chosen to use a skills based grading system as opposed to the traditional grading system. Skills are rated 1-4 based on their proficiency. All students start learning a new skill at the lowest proficiency and gain with practice. Some skills are gained quickly with little practice while others require months or years to reach proficiency. All proficiencies are based on skills expected at a student's grade level.

Students are encouraged to check their accounts daily as they work towards being independent learners. Parents are encouraged to check their child's progress at least weekly. Periodically, printed grades will be sent home.
Students in the upper grades are developing the skills they need to gauge their learning and set goals to acquire the progress they want. This is a work in progress. A lot patience and guidance is still needed. Students constantly need to be reminded that grades do not define the student, but rather students define the progress.
