156B Week 8
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis:
Multi-segmented actuation increased friction between cables in tandem, causing unwanted bending.
Design:
The final design will attempt to emulate a modern endoscope. It will consist of one 3 inch actuated tip, followed by six 6 inch passive follower segments. This will be encased in a bio-compatible sheath that will not hinder flexibility and ultimately be housed in a control handle that has a knob that controls the actuation.
Various overtube designs geared towards modern endoscopes are also being CADed
Test:
We will test that the sheath does not hinder the flexibility of the endoscope
The head of the actuated tip will be tested such that the crimps for the cables can be housed.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Determined our final product goal, as mentioned above.
Proved multi-segmented actuation with a test box.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Jorge: Fix mechanical design to account for cable crimping, modify overtube design
George: Modify housing design, assemble final product
Kazu: Modify housing design, modify overtube design
Avinash: Make changes to the report, correspond with group 3 on giving them a copy
