156A Finals Week

Overview of Project Context

Dr. Frank Talke and Anay Pandit have been working together for the last few months to develop a better disposable endoscope after the recent outbreak of infections at UCLA.

Project Objectives

High Priority Objectives

Second Priority Objectives

Other Constraints and Issues

Risk Reduction Objectives

After speaking with Anay, he mentioned that our first order of business should purely be design. We have discussed spending at least the first three weeks thinking about design. Ideally, he wanted us to come up with a design different from his, and eventually come to a consensus on which combination of our designs would be best. The focus of the design should be the critical angle mentioned in the sigmoid of the colon that has a radius of 25.8 mm.

Intermediate Milestones

Our intermediate milestones are to finish designing, manufacturing, and testing every 5 weeks respectively, so that by the 15 week period, our project is finalized. We understand that some parts may take longer or shorter than others as well as leak into each other, but maintaining that relative timeline will keep us on track to finish on time.

Individual Component Analysis Topics

The individual components of Anay’s design are the ABS joints, the thermal expansion wires, the miniature linkages, the bendable end, and the hand control. However, the analysis of these parts should come with the formulation of our own ideas.
