Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Finished cutting tests on algae
Finished proof of concept presentation
Finished CAD of main designs
Will purchase parts and work on prototype this
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Created CAD designs of two main designs: (1) blade cutting sampler (2) wire cutting sampler
Sent designs to Chuck and Kara
Hardware tests with dense assortment of plants: (1) blades: tested using two types of blades (2) wires: nylon music wire with a simple slip knot
Proof of Concept presentation preparation
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.

Comments from meeting with Dr. Tustaniwskyj & Pedro:
warned that music wire will slip
definitely use a float switch if trigger mechanism is utilized
suggested not drawing grid lines on the camera lens
if no rod is used, suggested using bike brake cable (stainless material), but might be hard to find 15' long
materials: ionized aluminum, plastics, painted steel
brass and stainless steel for sliding parts
no stainless steel screws in stainless threads: danger of welding together
cheese cloth alternatives : muslin bag, plastic mesh (suggested against cheese cloth)
