Nutmeg Custard Pie

1 unbaked 9" pie shell

3 cups milk

1 bay leaf

1 3" cinnamon stick

3 eggs

3 egg yolks

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon salt

prick pie shell with fork

bake 425 for 7 minutes; remove from oven

scald milk with bay leaf and cinnamon stick

beat eggs and remaining ingredients in bowl until smooth

strain milk into egg mixture; mix

pour into shell

bake at 325F for 55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from center of pie
