Failure to obey the following rules will result in consequences determined by the teacher. These may include, but are not limited to, a parent phone call, staying after school or coming in before school, Processing Sheet, or an office referral.
1.) Bring materials needed for class (book, paper, assignment notebook, pens, pencils, etc.).
2.) Keep hands, feet and objects to oneself.
3.) Avoid inappropriate talking.
4.) Attend all teacher issued appointments school.
5.) Arrive to class on time.
6.) Avoid dress or appearance which presents a health or safety hazard or which materially and substantially disrupts the educational process. This also includes any advertisement of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs.
LEVEL II - ELIGIBLE FOR IMMEDIATE REFERRALS
A student who has been reported for an infraction of any of the following behaviors will be subject to disciplinary action. This action may include, but is not limited to, a discipline referral or possible suspension:
1.) Using inappropriate language
2.) Showing disrespect to an adult
3.) Threatening or intimidating another student
4.) Cheating
5.) Vandalizing or stealing
6.) Insubordination
7.) Repeated absence from a teacher issued appointment
8.) Unauthorized absence from class/school
9.) Three unexcused tardies to class within a grading quarter
10.) Any behavior that disrupts the educational process
11.) Repeated violations of Level I responsibilities
LEVEL III - ELIGIBLE FOR SUSPENSION
The principal may suspend from school a student found guilty of gross disobedience or repeated misconduct. These behaviors can include, but are not limited to:
1.) Fighting
2.) Smoking or possession of cigarette paraphernalia
3.) Possession or use of any alcohol, drugs, or drug paraphernalia
4.) Gross or repeated insubordination
5.) Gang related activity
6.) Repeated violations of LEVELS I or II
7.) Possession or use of any weapon
8.) Committing any act in violation of Illinois Criminal Code
9.) Gross misbehavior that disrupts the educational process
10.) Sexual Harassment
LEVEL IV - ELIGIBLE FOR EXPULSION
The Board of Education may expel a student for an act of gross misconduct for a period not to extend beyond two school years. The school must follow the steps described by law for a suspension, except that a hearing must be provided by the Board of Education. At the hearing, the student may have legal counsel, the opportunity to question the opposing witnesses, the right to present evidence and call witnesses. These gross misconducts may include, but are not limited to:
1.) Repeated suspensions
2.) Possession of a firearm/weapon
3.) Sale and/or distribution of any drugs
