Requests for Mid-Day Pickups
Parents/Guardians:
In the event a student needs to leave school early for an appointment, he/she must bring a note from the parent/guardian to the front office before 8:05am in exchange for a pass at the specific time to return to the main office. If a student is to be picked up during a passing period, a note and pass are NOT required; the student will simply take ownership of arriving in the office during that passing period for pick-up. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to notify the school of the student’s absence prior to the start of school on the day of the absence.
With efficiency goals and avoidance of classroom disturbance in mind, the front office will not make a practice of calling to interrupt a class in session.
On average, a “page-a-student” request takes at least thirty seconds; historically, we have received an average of 25 “page-a-student” requests per day. This equates to:
Lost
Instructional
Time
12.5 minutes per day
62.5 minutes per week
250 minutes (~4 hours) per month
2,250 minutes (~38 hours) per year
Because the early dismissal of students is disruptive to the classroom and results in lost instructional time, we respectfully request that all early dismissal requests be processed through the front office before 8:05, so that we do not have to interrupt our valuable teaching and learning time.
