Early Bird Procedures

Rationale: In order to tighten up building security and safety of traffic flow throughout the building prior to school, as well as to provide appropriate morning supervision for students in the building, McClure has adjusted the Early Bird Policy to reflect the following:

• • Morning appointments are TEACHER-DIRECTED. Teachers will discuss and approve morning appointment requests with students the day before an appointment, and add the student’s name to a pre-approved Early Bird List. Students will check in daily with the staff member in the main hallway.

  • Students who participate in before-school activities (clubs, Student Council, chorus, etc.) will have their names automatically added, by the supervising staff member, to the Early Bird List and do NOT have to schedule an appointment to gain entry for their activity.

  • Should a student arrive before 8:05am and request entry without having their name on the Early Bird List, they will be directed to either wait outside (weather permitting) for the bell or to enter and work in the LLC. The student may then discuss and set up a future appointment with their teacher during the school day.

  • LLC Use:

  • Students who wish to enter the building and work COLLABORATIVELY in the LLC (studying, reading, working on projects, using LLC STEM materials, etc.) will be allowed to enter the LLC space at 7:40. These students do NOT have to be on the Early Bird List. This space will be monitored by Ms. Fumarolo.

  • Students who wish to enter the building and to work SILENTLY in the LLC will be directed to the Computer Lab, which will be a designated quiet zone. Students will be allowed to enter this space at 7:40. These students do NOT have to be on the Early Bird List.
