Padlet
The school version of a Padlet Pro license, called Padlet Backpack, is available to every D-E teacher and student at d-e.padlet.org
To Get Started or Log In
Go to d-e.padlet.org and choose login with Google to get started. This will automatically create an account for you.
(Note: if you get a message asking you to upgrade, check to make sure you have logged in to the D-E specific site -- d-e.padlet.org and not the general padlet.com website).
Teacher Access
If you are a teacher, email help@d-e.org to request promotion to teacher access, which will enable a few extra features only for teachers. (Most features are available to both students and teachers so you can get started without teacher access.)
Create a Padlet
Click here to view the five steps for you to create and share your Padlet to be used by others.
Create it: Log in (see above) and use the + Make a Padlet button on the dashboard.
Select a Layout: If Padlet is new to you, the most difficult thing about creating a Padlet may be choosing the best layout for your intended use. Click here for an short introduction to various layouts or here for a long article with example classroom uses. You can change also the layout after people start posting.
Change the Title then close the modify settings box.
Set Privacy for access by others: Click the Share option, change the privacy then allow visitors to write (if appropriate), and click the Save button then Back button.
Secret privacy is useful for classes and clubs if you want to skip entering individual email addresses. Only people who know the Padlet address, which you will have to send them, will see your Padlet. However, anyone inside our outside of D-E who finds out the address will have access.
Org wide privacy restricts access to only people with a @d-e.org account. However, everyone at D-E will see you Padlet listed under Shared in their dashboard.
Optionally, you can also use Add Members if you want to restrict the Padlet to only certain email address or give people different access. (e.g. Provide adminster or edit access to a co-teacher.) Only those people you invite will have access, but they will need to sign in to Padlet one time first (see Get Started above) to automatically create an account before they will show up in the member list so you can invite them.

Share it: Use Copy link under share if you want to post the address of your Padlet someplace else such as on My DE, Classroom, or Seesaw.
Padlet Privacy
By default, any Padlet board you create can only be seen by you. To give others access . . .
To give others access, click the Share option to change the privacy and/or invite others to read, edit, or manage your Padlet.
Org wide privacy is recommended for a balance of convenience and security and restricts access to only people with a @d-e.org account. This is useful for classes and clubs if you want to skip entering individual email addresses. Also, if you keep the "Display in org dashboard" disabled, only d-e.org folks who know the link to your Padlet will be able to find it. If you choose to enable display in dashboard, everyone at D-E (all students of all divisions and all school employees) will see you Padlet listed under Shared in their dashboard.
Secret privacy is mediocre security by obscurity. It is useful to share a read-only Padlet with parents as no sign in is required. Only people who know the Padlet address, which you will have to send them, will see your Padlet. However, anyone inside our outside of D-E who finds out the address will have access. Be sure to set it to View only, to prevent anyone on the Internet to be able to anonmously post to it.
Optionally, you can also use Add Members if you want to restrict your Padlet board to only certain email address or give people different access. For example, this allows you to provide edit access to a co-teacher or co-leader. You could combine this with Org wide to allow only specified people to post but allow many others to read. In order to use Add Members to invite someone, the people you invite will need to sign in to Padlet one time first (see Get Started above) to automatically create an account before they will show up in the member list so you can invite them.
