Self-Service Password Reset

Students & Staff have the ability to reset their own DE password, if they have configured their password reset settings.

Resetting your DE Password

If you need to reset your DE password, click the link Forgot my password when prompted to enter your password. If you have configured your password reset settings, you'll be prompted to select a recovery method (email or phone). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the password reset.

If you get an error You can't reset your own password because you haven't registered for password reset, please contact Computer Services at help@d-e.org or 201-227-3177 for assistance.

Password requirements

Your password must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 characters and a maximum of 256 characters.

  • Requires three out of four of the following:

    • Lowercase characters.

    • Uppercase characters.

    • Numbers (0-9).

    • Symbols (@ # $ % ^ & * - _ ! + = [ ] { } | \ : ' , . ? / ` ~ " ( ) ; < >)

  • In addition, some common words or using your name is not permitted.

Setting or Updating Password Reset Options

Configuring account recovery is as simple as specifying a phone number or alternate (non-DE) email address to use in case you cannot remember your own DE password. To register your Account Recovery options, go here:

If you have already configured your account recovery options, you'll see what you have previously set, and can change your settings if you wish.
