Career Pathways
Career Clusters/Pathways
According to Georgia House Bill 186, all public high school students in Georgia should choose an area of interest in one of the state-approved career clusters. Each cluster has a variety of available pathways. The aim of the program is to connect classroom learning with real-world application. Students select their pathway based on what they want to do after graduation. Students have the freedom to switch pathways – although the closer they are to graduation, there may not be enough time to complete all the courses in a new pathway.

There are four general types of pathways: Advanced Academic, Fine Arts, CTAE, and World Languages. Students typically need to complete three classes within a pathway for it to be considered complete.
The exception is Advanced Academic. To complete an Advanced Academic pathway a student must:
Complete four classes in a core area (English, math, science, or social studies)
One of the four must be an AP or collegiate level class that fills a core graduation requirement.
Complete two units of the same world language

It is very important that you think about Pathways
as you are choosing courses for next year.
Academic Pathway: To complete an academic pathway, you must complete the 4 core classes in that content. One of the four classes must be an AP or Dual Enrollment class. In addition, you must complete two credits in the same world language. Foreign Language is the exception. All it takes to complete a Foreign Language pathway is 3 consecutive courses within the same language.
Career Pathway: To complete a career or fine arts pathway, a student must complete 3 courses in the area. The pathways that can be completed at CCHS without dual enrolling are listed at the top of this page. There are many other pathways that can be completed through ACCA.
