Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment (DE) provides opportunities to Georgia high school students to take college-level courses and earn concurrent credit toward a high school diploma and a college degree while still in high school.  This is not the same as becoming a Career Academy student. To begin this process, the student should submit the  Dual Enrollment Interest form and schedule an appointment with Ms. Melton. Be sure to check your email for updates.

You will need to register for a full schedule at Clarke Central when you meet with your Advisor in November. Once you are admitted to a Dual Enrollment program, you will work with Ms. Melton to finalize your schedule and determine which courses you will take through Dual Enrollment and which courses you will take at Clarke Central. This process usually occurs during summer break. 

Students need to take a college placement exam (SAT or ACT) if required by the college of your choice. The March SAT/ACT is the latest you can test in order to have your scores back in time to apply by the application deadline. See information below about the admissions requirements for our partner colleges.

The Clarke County School District has Dual Enrollment agreements with the following local colleges:

Athens Technical College

• 10th - 12th graders

• 2.0 GPA for CTAE courses

  • Plus a SAT/ACT/Accuplacer test score

• 2.5 GPA for core academic courses without the test score requirement

• Must submit:

  • Online admissions application

  • Recommendation/Permission Form

  • CCHS transcript (sent by Ms. Melton)

  • Test scores if needed

Piedmont University

• 3.0 GPA

• Test optional if GPA is 3.0 or above, otherwise need to submit SAT/ACT test scores

• 3.25 HOPE GPA

• Test scores:

  • SAT: Reading & Writing - 530, Math - 480

  • ACT: English or Reading - 20, Math - 18

  • PSAT: Reading & Writing - 480, Math - 440

• Must submit:

  • Online admissions application

  • CCHS transcript (sent by Ms. Melton)

  • Test scores (SAT/ACT score report sent by student, PSAT scores sent by Ms. Melton)

  • Proof of Lawful Presence documentation

University of Georgia

• 4.07 - 4.35 GPA

• Test scores:

  • SAT: 1300 - 1470

  • ACT: 30 - 34

    • These are admissions averages for admitted college freshman; UGA uses a holistic review process so these are benchmarks to strive for

• Must submit:

  • Online admissions application

    • Includes within it the essay section, activity section, and contact information for your teacher recommendation

  • Test scores (SAT/ACT score report sent by student)

  • Ms. Melton will submit your School Report which includes:

    • CCHS transcript

    • Counselor Recommendation
