Athens Community Career Academy
The Athens Community Career Academy offers a unique and innovative experience to all CCSD high school students interested in exploring post-secondary endeavors. The ACCA is a partnership between the Clarke County School District, Athens Technical College and the University of Georgia. Here, students have the opportunity to take core academic college courses, enroll in career-themed college certification programs and participate in unique internships. Any student who meets the requirements can register to take classes at ACCA.
There are two types of courses at ACCA, high school level and then collegiate level. Both types will be discussed below.
High School Level Courses: The following courses are high school level courses available to ANY STUDENT. These courses do NOT require the placement test but students still need to complete an ACCA Interest Form (bit.ly/accainterest). Students must have earned 6 credits with a 2.0 minimum GPA to take the High School Pathway classes.
Collegiate Level: If a student is interested in taking any of the collegiate level courses (outlined below), he/she should complete an ACCA Interest Form (bit.ly/accainterest) as well as attend an upcoming Dual Enrollment Night to finalize Athens Tech requirements. ONLY JUNIORS and SENIORS can take Collegiate Level courses. Students must have 2.6 HOPE GPA to take College level courses.
Students who are interested need to complete the ACCA Interest Form (bit.ly/accainterest) get the most up-to-date information.
