🔨 Carpentry
At Lakeland College these courses are an exciting opportunity for students interested in learning how to build; it also will provide students the opportunity to experience carpentry as a possible career pathway.
Level 1: The students will plan and build an Adirondack chair or a similar complex item, to take home.
Level 2: This is designed for those students who have completed first level and would like to develop enhanced carpentry skills by building an entertainment center or cabinet of some sort such as a bureau.
Level 3: Level three will give students the skills to be able to compete in the Lakeland Regional Skills Carpentry Competition. Skills Canada Competitions are a fun way to put your trade skills to the test, gain valuable experience, meet like-minded people, travel, and (of course) win prizes! This course is intended to teach students advanced carpentry skills. Students will learn how to use plans to build a small outdoor structure. They will learn how to construct a floor system, frame walls, build doors, and cut rafters. The techniques learned throughout this course are closely related to those practiced by the modern residential construction industry.
