One of the waste reduction managers’ most important jobs is to educate house members about recycling/reuse/reduction/composting services available to the house and to encourage waste-reducing actions.
Some ideas for waste reduction education:
Signs: post signs above and on top of all of your recycling and compost bins. Put signs on your trash saying Trash Only. Signs are available online here!
Recycling tips: write and post recycling tips up in bathrooms, educate people about recycling in your house and about recycling processes in general.
Recycling bulletin board: you can have a central area for recycling information where you can put up articles, recent developments, announcements, etc.
Don’t/Do Throw It Away: make two lists of items that people could conceivably want to throw away. Make one list of Don’t Throw Away, and one of Do Throw Away, and then post this list either in poster or flier form.
Contact the Waste Reduction Coordinator (recycle@bsc.coop) to coordinate grease pickups.

Garbage and Compost – each house pays for a specific amount of garbage and compost collection; even if you find extra bins, do not put them on the curb as you will be charged for them. If you need more contact CK.
Don’t steal other houses’ bins; contact CK if you need more.
