Resources for Teaching About Women's History Month

     March is Women's History Month!

Women throughout history have fought for equality in politics, sports, theater, and many other fields. This statement made by Elizabeth Cady Stanton in her 1845 Declaration of Rights and Sentiments represented the lack of equality established within the founding documents of our country. Thomas Jefferson's words in the Declaration of Independence stated that "all men are created equal", therefore excluding half of society.

During this month and throughout the year, we celebrate the women in history who have challenged themselves and society to overcome the barriers set before them. The resources below provide a vast collection of primary sources that range from videoclips and photographs to monuments and speeches.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal."

                 ~ Elizabeth Cady Stanton
