Work-Based Learning (WBL)
Grade: 11 & 12
Students interested in Work-Based Learning should be in good academic standing, have strong attendance and pride themselves on representing Baraboo High School well in the community. Previous attendance records and behavioral referrals will be reviewed when determining eligibility for this program.
This course will be Pass/Fail!

Can be taken for 0.5 credit OR for 1.0 credit for each semester
Local Work-Based Experiences are offered to high school Juniors and Seniors to prepare for a career while in school. The Local Work-Based Experiences can be paid or unpaid.
General Information:
Provides students with school supervised work experience.
Can be in any business, industry or job
Allows students to sample a particular industry or business for a period of time by working on a single project or a number of different projects
Paid Local Work-Based Experience
Hour requirement = 90 hours
Upon completion student will have earned BHS credit and an Employability Skills Certificate from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
Unpaid Local Work-Based Experience
An individualized plan for the student is developed in lieu of using state endorsed competencies
Upon completion student will earn BHS credit.
Student Responsibilities:
Complete the Local Work-Based applicationÂ
Applications can be picked up in Student Services from your School Counselor
Completed applications are due to the Work-Based Supervisor
Required classroom component will be completed as part of the Local Work-Based Experience
Maintain academic standing and acceptable attendance in school. If you receive a failing grade (F) in a required class (needed for graduation) you will not be allowed to continue in the Local Work-Based Experience class.
