Grades: 11-12 Start College Now (SCN)
The Early College Credit Program (ECCP) and Start College Now (SCN) programs allow Baraboo High School Students to take classes at Wisconsin Universities or technical colleges. Once classes are approved by the School Board, Baraboo High School agrees to pay the cost of tuition and books for these courses. Students are responsible for transportation. Furthermore, students who take a class through either program and do not complete the course by either failing the course or dropping the course past the drop deadline will be required to reimburse the district for the cost of the class.
Important things to note:
Students can earn up to 18 total credits through this program. Any credits taken past the 18 credits, the cost per credit past the 18 credits is the student's/family's responsibility.
The school board will not pay for any course that is comparable to a course already offered within the high school curriculum, unless the student takes the comparable course first
Any course taken through one of these programs counts towards a student's GPA and will earn them one laude point per class.
To be considered for ECCP/SCN, you must complete the appropriate application for each program. Applications have strict deadlines, so please review the information below for the deadline that corresponds to the program and semester in which you plan to take classes.
Interested students should speak with their counselor to see if this would be a good fit for them and get any application materials.
The Early College Credit Program (ECCP) allows Wisconsin public and private high school students in grades 9-12 to take one or more courses at the University of Wisconsin System, a tribally controlled college, or a private, nonprofit institution of higher education for college credit. Students may take classes that are beyond the scope and sequence offered at their high school. The program opens the door to greater learning opportunities for students whoare considering a variety of careers, wishing to begin college early, or wanting to expand their coursework beyond what their high school is able to provide. Students are able to take classes during the Fall, Spring, and/or summer semesters; however, students are only allowed to accumulate 18 credits total. The cost per credit past the 18 credits is the students/families responsibility. In addition, ECCP classes are included in a student's cumulative GPA, and earn them one laude point per class.

The Start College Now Program allows Wisconsin Public and private high school students in grades 11 and 12 to take one or more courses at a technical college for high school and college credit. The program opens the door to greater learning opportunities for students who are considering a technical career, wishing to begin their career training early, and/or preparing to enter the world of work after high school. Students are able to take classes during the Fall and/or Spring Semesters. Per Baraboo School District policy, students are only allowed to accumulate 18 credits total.
