2011

This year our 8th grade class has been studying about the Holocaust

and WWII. To better understand what was happening During These

dreadful times, We have been given the great honor of interviewing the

victims of These events. We have written Narratives, created wordles, and recorded the stories of

our interviewees. This experience has allowed us to not only

understand the horror of the Holocaust, but also receive an emotional

transfer Which We Could not Acquire in any other way.

Lucyna Bauer

On behalf of the American school community in Warsaw, hello all very wyjątkowymdniu - living history day. This day is to remind us who we are, who they were our ancestors, and more importantly, what we - the younger generation - they have done. Today we will be able to better learn about our history and remind ourselves of what's important.

Let me particularly delighted to welcome our honorable guests, people who personally participated in the Second World War and who are the living witnesses of the horrors of war and the effects it brings with hate each other. It is thanks to you, this day is so special and unique. Once again, thanks for coming!

I greet the teachers, students and all who participate in Living History Day. Our dziesiejsze meeting is all the more special, that this year, is organized for the tenth time.

the last two months we were learning about World War II, learned facts about the Nazi plans for extermination of peoples, we learned about the atrocities of the Holocaust. Last week, we could plainly see the evil of war at the time of our visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the place where hundreds of thousands were murdered Jews, Poles, Russians and other nationalities.

Today, Living History Day, gives a chance to meet new people and listen true stories from the past - but also a fascinating history of horror. I hope that today each of us has learned something of value. I am also convinced that each of us discover some new value in itself - the values that will be present throughout our lives.

at all times when I learned about this tragic period, our teacher reminded that I never forget. They are right - we need to remember! We should all remember what happened to these things never are not repeated.

1 September, in 2009, the world celebrated the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at the time of Westerplatte: "We meet here to remember, because we Poles know that without this memory-memories of sincere truth-about the sources of the Second World War, Poland, Europe and the world will not be safe.
