WEBSITE_MANAGEMENT

Congratulations on being a Website Manager for Arp ISD. There are a few guidelines we must follow to be compliant as manager.

(1) Read and sign the POSTING/PUBLISHING POLICY CONTRACT for Arp ISD and send it to the Technology Director.

(2) Follow the Web Accessibility (W3C) Rules for media (pictures, graphics, videos, etc.) This includes using the "alt" tag appropriately and additional transcription texts.

(3) Adjust your site for the mobile user (not too many graphics and not too large)

(4) Keep Navigation simple (two to three clicks at the most) Make alternative navigation possible for various users (some users like horizontal and some like verticle. It is perfectly OK to use links on both navigation systems. You can remind users that all Websites have a SEARCH BOX for finding information. The district has specified what they would like on the horizontal tabs. Please do not plan to change these: (About Us, Teacher Resources, Student Resources, Parent Resources, Employment Opportunities AND navigation to the district and other campus sites). Other tabs may be requested.

(5) Do not REPOST what has already been posted on the District pages. Instead, use a link to the district information.

(6) Keep all announcements up-to-date. Keep a "last update" visible. You may publish your contact info for folks to submit announcements.

(7) Keep scrolling to a minimum.

(8) Use Design Tips for Websites. ("high contrast" colors between background and text. Never use red text. Keep graphics to a minimum. Keep background simple and use at least a 12 pt bold font. 60/40 Rule -60% white space to 40% text.) Remember your audience. Parent pages do not need a lot of graphics. Many parents will be using their phones and would like to find links quickly.

(9) Copyright compliance for all items, graphics, photos, media, ideas, etc.

(10) Test your website in multiple browsers (Chrome, I.E., Safari, Firefox, etc.)
