Ginger nut biscuits

Ginger Nut Biscuits

Preparation time: 15 to 30 minutes

An old fashioned favourite.

Ingredients

125 g butter

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons of golden syrup

1 egg

2 cups self-raising flour

½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

3 teaspoons ground ginger

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180°C.

2. Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in microwave for about 2 min on high. Allow to cool a bit then mix in beaten egg

3. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well with a spoon. 

4. Roll mixture into small balls,  and flatten  with fork.  

5. Place on greased trays allowing room for spreading and bake for 10-15 minutes. Remove from

tray immediately and cool on a rack
