Too Much Homework Isn't Good

Have you ever just wanted to relax on the weekend but had to spend lots of time doing homework? I think that homework should be optional. We already do so much work during school, five days a week.
Weekends are supposed to be relaxing and a time you can do things you love, like hobbies and activities. School officials even said that some rules give students more time with their families and help them be more active. That makes sense to me. Most weekends I have softball tournaments, with my friends, that go all weekend. Most of them say they have to come home from a long weekend or come home really late and still have to do homework. Don’t you think that's a little harsh and unfair?
A girl named Sarah Forrest was interviewed in an article, and she said, "A weekend is a break from school to go outside and be with your family." I agree 100%. I don’t want to be stuck inside doing work when it’s sunny outside and my family is doing something. Weekends should be a break.
Too much work is bad for our brains and mental health. We already do work for hours in school. Then we have to go home and do more? It can be very stressful. Usually two days does not do very much and you most likely will not forget. In one article it said, “Students need to rest their brains. Weekends give kids the opportunity to play sports or participate in other activities. They also provide a nice break from the hard work of school.”
During the week, most kids are busy doing sports and other activities. We shouldn’t have to worry about doing homework on late nights and every day. It is okay to have homework but not a lot. In fact most schools in India give homework but in a fun way. The teachers give their students fun puzzles that usually have something to do with the lesson or thing they are working on.
Everybody knows there are always kids who want to do more. And if they want to do more they can. Most teachers will almost always give more work like extra credit or higher level problems. But even that should still be fun.
In conclusion, homework should be optional on weekends and teachers should not give us too much homework during the week either. We need time for family, activities, rest, and just being kids. School is important, but so is life outside of school.
