Best Season in Oregon

Many people wonder which season is the best in Oregon. Well, in my opinion, I think that summer is the best season because you can hangout with all of your friends, the weather is always super warm, you can do many activities (indoor or outdoor), and everything surrounding you just feels so alive and bright, making you feel very upbeat and excited.
Although there are no specific statistics for Oregon, The June 6-8 Gallup Poll finds 36% of Americans naming spring as their favorite season of the year, while 27% prefer fall, 25% summer, and just 11% winter. Although summer's percent is not the largest out of the four seasons, it still stands out with the countless activities to do.
Summer is the perfect time for so many outdoor activities because there is no school taking up a student's full day. One of the main reasons that summer is the best season is that you can go on vacations and not miss any school. Like how at the end of the school year when summer is just starting, I will be taking a trip to Paris with my family, and I will not have to worry about missing school.
Although there is nothing wrong with spring, fall, and winter, summer just stands out because a lot of people are very happy to have a break from school and holidays in November and December. The other seasons are great too but they have their own many stressful things that take a toll on them like weather, holidays, and school.
The best activity to do when the weather is great and the sun is shining is going to the beach. The feeling of watching the ocean’s waves crashing is so peaceful. Reading is also such a fun thing to do in the summer because you get to read what you want. Also, spending time with your friends has to be in my top ten because although you get to see them at school, it's not as fun as seeing them during the summer when you can go and do things. Even though this may not be everyone's activity, playing outdoor sports such as volleyball is one of the most fun things to do during the summer.
Not only is it a super relaxing time, but the summer season is amazing for your mental health. “More sunlight means more serotonin, the feel-good chemical in your brain which boosts your mood,” says Dr. O'Dea. Dr. O'Dea also says, “And on top of that, your body produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight – which is also linked to mental health.” Along with how you feel, being outside boosts how much vitamin D you are using and the increased sun exposure helps boost your mood.
Although there are many activities to do during the summer, sometimes it's also just great to chill because after 9 months of school it is very important to take a break. Like going to get a smoothie and then chilling outside with a nice book to read. Summer can be a very active time but it doesn’t always have to be. Like, it is very fun to be doing a lot of things in those three months, but even just relaxing is one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
During summer, everything just feels better because you have way less stress and you can just relax. Don’t get me started on the feeling that everyone feels in January and February where everything just feels very depressing. Well, you don’t have to worry about that in June, July, or August because the feeling of warm weather, longer days, bike rides, so many sleepovers, and watching the sunset just feels better in the summer. Summer just feels so bright and exciting. Which is why it is the best season.
