Have you ever had a milkshake? Lots of us have at least once in our lifetime, and that's the same with a smoothie. But have you ever wondered which is better? In this article, I will be answering this question of which drink is the better. We will be going off of price, ratings, and health to see which one is the best, and interviews from students and staff.
Now let's look at the average prices for milkshakes. According to Wikipedia, the average cost for a milkshake is around $8, and the average price for a smoothie is $5.30. So a smoothie is less expensive than the average milkshake. That means that if you wanted to save money and have a nice drink a smoothie might be the way to go.
For the healthy option, I think it's obviously smoothies, but let's check it out. According to the article, Fitday, neither are very healthy options. Smoothies are around 350 calories, but are not really bad for you because of the fruit in them and it really depends on how you make it. The article also said, milkshakes have a ton of empty calories and have an average of 300 calories in total. At the end of the article it stated that smoothies were better for your health, because they were easier to make healthy by adding healthier ingredients. Therefore, smoothies are healthier, because you can make them healthier, and milkshakes will always be a not so healthy treat.
To see what people think about smoothies and milkshake, I interviewed a few of my classmates and posted a survey where students can select which is better. To start, I interviewed my friends Kase, Lincoln, and my teacher Ms. Duato.
Q1: What do you like better, milkshakes or smoothies?
Kase: “I like smoothies. My favorite smoothie is strawberry and mango because they are as fruity.”
Q2: Do you think milkshakes look more appealing than smoothies?
Kase: “Yes, because they have toppings and whip cream and things that add a lot of Pazzaz!”
Q3: Which one do you think is more healthy?
Kase: “Smoothies cuz you can make them healthy by putting healthy stuff in it.”
Kase seems to love smoothies more than milkshakes.
Lincoln had a completely different perspective on milkshakes and smoothies.
Q1: Do you like milkshakes or smoothies better?
Lincoln: “I think that milkshakes are better because that's the first thing I had when I was born.”
Q2: What do you think is more healthy?
Lincoln: “Oh smoothies for sure”.
Q3: What do you think's more affordable?
Lincoln: “Okay so definitely milkshakes because the more unhealthy something is the more likely it's going to be less expensive so if I were to say which one is more and more affordable it would be milkshakes.”
Ultimately, Lincoln likes milkshakes more than smoothies.
Ms. Duato’s opinion is similar to Kase’s opinion.
Q1: What do you like more, milkshakes or smoothies?
Duato: “Smoothies.”
Q2: What's your favorite kind of smoothie?
Duato: “Mixed berries usually like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.”
Q3: Why do you like smoothies more?
Duato: “They're healthier.”
After these interviews, I see that typically people think smoothies are more expensive, but the majority says they like smoothies more than milkshakes. Mainly, because they are good and are healthier than a milkshake. I personally agree with the people who said smoothies are better, for the same reasons they gave. A smoothie is simply good and much healthier, but the only downside is that they are more expensive. What do you think about milkshakes and smoothies? What's better in your opinion?
