Term 1 - Digging up the past

Racism. Identity. Equality

Welcome to a brand new school year! We are ready for another term of incredible learning. This term the whole school theme will be ‘Digging up the past’. We are going to be historians and geographers.


Our focus will be Castles! We will learn all about why castles were built and the status they showed. What do you think the word status means? We will also find out more about the local castles in our area.

Term 6 - On Our Doorstep

Beauty. Reality, Equality

Welcome to Summer Term! This term the whole school theme will be ''On Our Doorstep' and we will be exploring the beauty of our local area, as well as what it means to be equal.


In Key Stage One our topic is called 'From the Sea to the Sky'. We will learn all about our local area and the geographical features it has. From this we will also find out more about local habitats and learn more about the wildlife that inhabits Hastings. By the end of the term we will be able to answer our big question: Do seagulls have a right to live in Hastings?

Term 5 - Our Planet and Us

Environment. Responsibility. Tolerance.

Welcome to Term 5! This term the whole school theme will be 'Our Planet and Us', we'll be investigating how we can protect the environment by being responsible.

In Key Stage One our topic is called The Yanonami! These are a group of people who live in isolated villages in the Amazon rainforest. We will learn more about the Amazon and how it is both a river and and rainforest. From this we will also find out more about rainforests and how they are the 'lungs of the earth'. By the end of term we will be able to answer our big question: Should the Yanonami adjust or is it their right to thrive?
