In a fierce pie eating battle between the faculty, graduate and undergraduate student teams, Dr. James Adler, who was competing for the faculty team, put together an impressive pie eating feat to become this year's Pie Eating champion.

Dr. Xaiozhe Hu also put up a fiery performance and even tied Adler in the main competition as both Hu and Adler consumed exactly 349 grams. It was only after the 20 second pie breaker in which Adler consumed 157 grams as opposed to Hu's 148, that a sole champion was determined. This is Adler's third title till date.

In the team competition, the faculty team thrashed the student teams by eating a combined total of 868 grams while the graduate students managed 570 grams and the undergraduates ate a meager 420 grams of pie. Among the graduate students, Peter led the effort with 277 grams while among the undergraduates Charlie led the team with 183 grams.

This year's competition featured blueberry pie, a step up in difficulty from last year's pumpkin pie and 2014's apple pie. The blueberry pie proved to be difficult since it crumbled easily and the contestants lost valuable time scooping it into their mouths.
