About Us

The Tufts Organization of Graduate Students in Mathematics (OGSM) is an AMS Graduate Student Chapter and Graduate Student Organization at Tufts University, founded in 2009 with the purpose of providing a representative body for graduate students in the Mathematics Department.  In the fall and spring semesters, the OGSM holds biweekly meetings to discuss issues math graduate students are facing and to host faculty speakers.

The OGSM engages with the faculty to advocate on behalf of math grad students as well as deliver grad student opinions on matters such as office and grading assignment preferences. Additionally, the OGSM also organizes a peer-led teaching class in fall semesters as well as a mentoring program to pair off incoming graduate students with upper-year students. On a more casual level, the OGSM is a hub of social engagement, and exists to foster a sense of community. OGSM meetings provide a space to discuss our various seminars, intramural sports teams, game nights, and other social events.
