Report about the Tour with Tina Turner 2000

Supporting Tina Turner in Europe

To promote his name in Europe as the man behind, and the voice of, all the Creedence Clearwater Revival classics, John Fogerty toured as a supporting act to Tina Turner in 19 concerts in the continent in summer 2000.

Fogerty followed a nine-date mini-tour in the USA, that kicked off on August 5 at the "Mars Amphitheatre" in West Palm Beach, Florida, the tour saw Fogerty on stage with a group of Louisiana-based musicians, including Aaron Neville.

Fogerty hired a new band for the tours, with only Kenny Aronoff remaining from his 1997-1998 line-up. Other members included Rick Vito (guitar, background vocals and percussion on "Born On The Bayou") of Fleetwood Mac, Tom Bukovac (guitar) and Dave Santos of Billy Joel's band on bass and background vocals..

Something new

The one hour set included 15 songs, featuring new arrangements in a couple of numbers. "Down On The Corner" had a new intro drumming pattern. "Who'll Stop The Rain" and "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" featured John strumming an acoustic whilst one of the other guitarist played the electric guitar parts. Added was also bongo drums to "Born On The Bayou".

In Cardiff, Wales, he joined Tina Turner and performed "Proud Mary" as a duet. In Sheffield, England, Lionel Richie appeared as a surprise guest to deliver a set after John and before Tina.

"The show seems to get better and better", said a fan who saw him in Hannover, Germany, "The playing and the groove was superb. Any band he hires seems to work out well."
