Recorded most years, usually for a day. On the 3rd and 4th of September 2005 a female showed well to several observers in the shrubs in the north-east corner.

Woodberry Wetlands is among the best places in London to see this elusive species on passage.

Number in Britain: 19 thousand pairs (Summer)

Status:

in London: passage migrant in variable numbers.

in UK: Migrant breeder, Passage visitor

Habitat: Open forest, woodland, towns

Diet: Arthropods, caterpillars (esp. for nestlings), frequently hunts from perch.
