Green Sandpiper
Tringa ochropus
Until recently (2009) one or two over-wintered annually here, often by the West reservoir. However in line with national trends they have become scarcer. Most years they are seen here on passage in low numbers.

Status:
in London: winter visitor and passage migrant (mainly in autumn).
in UK: Scarce breeder, Passage/winter visitor
Habitat: Pools & marsh, on migration wet grass & mudflats.
Diet: Invertebrates, mostly from near surface, rarely probes.
