A First Responders Thoughts

Recently there have been attacks on the Police and First Responders. As you well know, many First Responders have been killed or wounded in these attacks on them.

So, you might be wondering -- what do the First Responders think about this?

Are they planning on quitting? Or what?

The following was written by a First Responder shortly after the attack in Dallas.

_______________________________________________________

So this morning when I woke up was like all the rest, I donned my bullet proof vest, my uniform and gun belt, and headed to work.

Only this morning wasn't like all the rest, I awoke to find that my brothers in Dallas had been murdered in cold blood.

I spent time in fervent prayer for the Dallas Police Department, and for my fellow officers at the ... ... Sheriff's Department.

I went through every emotion imaginable, and yes, I wept for my brothers and their families.

I looked at every roof top as I drove, and didn't get out of my unit at the station until I was sure the roof tops and parking lot were clear.

Many of you will never understand that feeling, and that is okay, you are not called to this profession. I am. I will not run away, I will not hide, I will stand with my brothers and sisters in arms and I will fight the good fight. I will not fear for I have God on my side, I have Jesus Christ as my Saviour. The forgiveness and grace he has shown me has given me a love for people who are seemingly unlovable.

There are those who will hate me for my profession, but I will stand in the gap to protect them; and if necessary I will give my life so that they can be safe and live theirs.

Those same people who hate me, I will love.

Those same people will still call when they need help, and I will still respond with the same love and respect that I try to show to all people, not because I am noble or am a saint; but because Jesus Christ has put a love in my heart for people that I cannot explain.

Ladies and gentlemen without Christ I am nothing, and apart from him I can do nothing of lasting significance.

To my law enforcement brothers and sisters I beg you to train hard like your life depends on it because it does. I beg you to stop making excuses about working out, I beg you to stop only taking the training your department mandates and do more. I beg you to take a good long look at your family and realize they are why you should change, they are why you should REFUSE MEDIOCRITY, they are why you should hold yourself to a higher standard than others do. They deserve to have you come home, shame on you if you let them down because you were too lazy to prepare.

I love each and every one of you and i would gladly give my life to save your life, but there is a man who has already done that for you and his name is Jesus Christ.

The most important thing in your life is where you will spend eternity, whether you believe that God is real or not, one day you will meet him and you will know that he is real.

John 3

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I beg you to meet Jesus, admit you are a sinner and turn your heart to him. If you are unsure, call me or send me a message and I will walk you through it.

Once again, not because i am a saint, or have all the answers, or am better than you. I am not better than you, I am a SINNER saved by God's grace. Jesus said that while we were yet sinners he loved us! Please seek him, please talk to him now, ask Jesus to reveal himself to you, this is not some higher power, this is the one true God of the universe who can and will change you heart and life.

So, I answer my calling daily with a mind focused on loving those I serve, and knowing today may be the day I meet my Saviour face to face.

Amid all the hate and evil in our country today people need love, they are crying, begging, and pleading for it, even if they don't know it.

I will stand the thin blue line, and yes i will enforce the laws of our land and restrain evil at every turn.

I have no patience for people who commit heinous crimes against others, but I do have a love even for the worst of the worst that causes me to pray for their soul and treat them with respect even when they spit on me, mock me, and fight me.

I have found myself praying for the people I deal with even while I have been literally fighting them because Jesus is the only thing that will change their lives for good, and he came for them too.

Seek Jesus today.
