Fire+Rescue Stations
Your local fire station is where most firefighters work, and are supported by career firefighters and administration staff. Combined they provide a comprehensive, professional community-based fire fighting, fire education and awareness, fire inspection and investigation service.
Assisting our local firefighters are sections with specialist roles such as fire safety, fire investigation, building inspections, hazard abatement, Public Education and Training to name a few.
Fire+Rescue stations are permanently staffed, regardless of holidays.
The department runs a shift schedule for full time firefighters of a 10 hour day and a 14 hour night. With 4 shift platoons, crews work 2 days & 2 night shifts and then have 4 days off.
Station 9:
Located north east of the city, Station 9 covers a low density residential area with a large urban/rural fringe, and a light industrial precinct.
The station has accommodation for up to 8 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Station 709 is also co-located with a volunteer wildfire unit (#789)
Station 6:
Located north-west of the city centre, Station 6 covers a residential area with a large urban/rural fringe. To the west is the city’s water treatment plant, with high levels of chemicals.
The station has accommodation for up to 8 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Station 4:
Located north-west of the city centre, Station 4 is one of two command stations in the city. Crews back up calls to the north side of the CBD & cover low and medium density residential structures, with a mix of light commercial & industrial structures.
The station has accommodation for 8 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Station 2: City
Located East of the city’s centre, Station 1 operates as the first call to the many buildings in the CBD.
Its secondary area consists of the rural-urban interface to the east.
The station has accommodation for 10 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Station 10:
Located west of the city centre, Yarralumla station is the home for the regions USAR response, storing & responding the specialized equipment
Yarralumla's area covers low and medium density residential structures, several museums & other cultural facilities. To the west is a large bush interface.
The station has accommodation for 10 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Yarralumla is also co-located with a volunteer wildfire unit (#780)
Station 1:
Located south of the city’s centre, Fyshwick Station operates as the backup to calls to the south side of the CBD, as well as its own area of residential, commercial & industrial areas.
Its secondary area consists of the rural-urban interface to the west, the river to the north, and the airport to the west. It houses the citys Hazmat specialists & equipment
The station has accommodation for up to 10 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Station 3:
Located south of the city centre, its area covers low and medium density residential and commercial structures.
The station has accommodation for up to 8 firefighters & includes a lounge, kitchen, gymnasium & a community meeting room.

Located south west of the city centre, Station 5 covers a residential area with a large urban/rural fringe.
