The Kyola Fire and Rescue Service is a division of the Kyola Regional Government's, Department of Emergency Services and the primary provider of fire and rescue services throughout Kyola.

The department currently operates from 10 career & 7 volunteer stations and has around 60 frontline apparatus. This includes pumpers, aerials, rescues, grass / wildfire units and several support units.

While firefighters are best known for attending fires in homes or buildings, the KFRS provides a vast range of other fire and rescue services including:

  • Rescue – road accident and other types of rescue

  • Chemical and hazardous material incident management

  • Community awareness and education on fire and safety issues

  • Juvenile Fire Awareness and Intervention

  • Fire safety compliance inspection of commercial buildings and building plans

  • Administering legislation relating to fire and safety in buildings and on rural property

  • Rural land management advice regarding the role and use of fire as a hazard mitigation tool

  • Hazard abatement

  • Fire cause investigation

  • Fire alarm monitoring

  • Fire safety advice to the general community

The KFRS provides these services as well as responding to fires in homes, buildings, vehicles and on the land, and maintaining a maximum level of operational preparedness of staff and fire and rescue equipment.
