From Milton Taggart to his son Ben

March 8, 1915

Dear boy i thought i would rite you a fugh lines. we ar ol wel and have anuf to eat. we cant eat the snow that is more snow than hay but we have some hay but it is the toughest winter i have ever seen in the west. im glad you have a nice one thare ol thoe it is not cold. this morning was the coldest we have had for along time we had a nice day today sun shined ol day and the first time i seen the sun for six or eight days

mother was sick qite a long tim but has got ol rite. feels good now. i feel good this winter dont go much. keep prity close a round home. Hant had no cold this winter. Billie has some cold now but not bad. how is Lawrence is he wel tel him helo for me. Gertie ses that you and Lawrence have retrid (retired) that is fine if you can hold out this winter is hard on stock here and ol of North nebraska. down at Neligh had a leter from P D Thompson. he sed it was the hardest winter thay had ever seen in that contry. we have lots of winter range if the snow would go off and it cant stay much longer. the sun is giting sronger and hoter so it cant last much longer

i bot some oats and im going to so oats and Spelts got 20 bushels Spelts and wil so about 30 or 35 acres of oats and corn the rest.
