August Field Trip Saturday August 15th
We will be going to French Joe Canyon in the Whetstone Mountains. Henri reports that the road is very rocky, but solid. High-clearance vehicles only. We will meet at the parking lot of Gas City at Highway 90 and I-10 at 8:30 am for an 8:45 departure.
Rocks in a Box
[Here is the text of an email received by the Club. Anyone wishing to send Aaron some rocks (I will be sending some) can contact Paul McKnight for his address info.]
---------------------
Hello, my name is Aaron Hendricks. I’m 10 and want to be a geologist when I grow up. I’ve been finding rocks and crystals every once in a while and I’m excited to continue learning.
My mom … home schools me and we are doing a fun Science project. I’m building a small collection of rocks, gems, minerals, etc. from several states in the US. I’ll be using it to research, write reports, and chart data. There is so much that I want to learn from this project and I hope that you can help to me.
I’m writing to ask if your club could send me a few samples of the state rock, mineral, or just anything cool that is found in Arizona. We are a one-income family so I need to get these samples free or very cheap. I’m saving money so I can pay shipping or pay for the samples if I need to. This is a long project and will take a lot of time.
Would you please consider sending me a few items from Arizona or refer me to someone who can help me? ..
