Deleting Headers from Exports to Excel

A forum poster asked: "I have a report generated by a non-office program and saves it in XLS format. It creates a header (for when you print it out). I am trying to delete all of these rows with the exception of the very first one at the top."

I run into this sort of thing often. Almost every major business app exports reports to Excel. The problem is they sometimes export their reports as though they are to be printed on paper, with headers that repeat every 40 or so rows. Those headers can greatly interfere with Excel’s ability to sort, filter, and analyze the data, which is why we downloaded it to Excel in the first place.

To address this I created this add-in which makes it easy to remove headers and totals, remove blank rows, and convert the data to an XL table which we can filter, sort and pivot.

To get the add-in start by downloading the PDF. The link is below. Easy!
