The 2000's and The Age of Technology


The Student Body became more and more reliant and involved with new technologies in the 2000s

    • The shift to a technologically based education includes:
      • Creation of the Randolph-Macon website
      • Creation of MyMaconWeb
      • RMCLife
      • TheBuzz
      • Social Media pages
        • Incoming freshman have group chats to meet people before coming to school
        • Different clubs have social media pages

TheBuzz which is a platform to keep up to date with clubs, organizations and events

MyMaconWeb which is a platform for keeping track of various information such as finances, academics, and other important information.

Macon Exchange, a Facebook page created for the ladies of R-MC to buy and sell clothes, textbooks, and other trinkets.

The R-MC Office of Student Life's Facebook page, a place where students can keep up to date with various happenings on campus.

The Facebook page for the Common Activities Board, a group dedicated to creating events for students.

Andrews Hall, the newest dormitory for freshman and the home of the Honors Program.

Birdsong apartments, the newest dormitory for seniors.

Brock Hall, known as New Copley to students, is the newest building on campus and houses the science center.

Coventry Farm, the new Equestrian farm.

The 2010s saw a new expansion of Randolph-Macon as the student body became bigger and bigger.

    • Andrews Hall and the Birdsong apartments were build to be new, bigger and better dormitories. Andrews Hall was built for freshman students and is now the home of the Honors Program,
    • The death of Macon F. Brock Jr. in 2018 gave the school a large endowment to create new programs for students
      • Brock Hall ("New Copley")
        • A new science building was built with state of the art technology and instruments. The creation and the building of the new science center was notably funded by alumni donations.
      • New Equestrian Center
        • The Equestrian Team was treated with a new horse farm after the death of Brock Jr.
      • Outdoor recreational center
        • A new outdoor recreational center was recently finished in late 2018 in the back of the Brock Center. This features lifting equipment and hot tub.
    • New Opportunities for Students
      • The school has seen a huge expansion of programs as they have been listening to what the students want. These include:
        • The addition of a new nursing program and the plans to build a new building for the program next to Fox Hall.
        • The creation of many new majors and minors such as criminology and writing.
