The 1920's
Athletics in the 1920's at the college can be best summarized by the words of a yearbook contributor:
Though we have not made a wonderful record in athletics this year, we feel that we have done more than well under the circumstances... since we are on the road to a recovery, we are full of hope and confidence.
World War I clearly affected life on campus, specially athletics. Despite the lack of success in the 1920's, great images were captured!

- Randolph-Macon's first female athletes
1930 Baseball, Football, and Lacrosse
1938 Swimming (left) and Cross Country (right)
The role of the cheerleaders was taken very seriously! They were responsible for the football bonfires, teaching cheers to incoming students, and cheering at games.

4 wins, 3 defeats, and 2 ties... If the team had been jinxed by a plague of injuries and Uncle Sam's priorities on athletes, even a larger number of wins would likely be on record.
