Keeping Bellevue Beautiful

Volunteers are working with individuals, organizations, and businesses to increase participation in reduction, reuse and recycling programs and expand these efforts in Bellevue. This group is also looking at beautifying our city through litter and waste reduction programs, with participation in the annual Great American Clean-up.

Current projects underway:

Support Recycling Centers in Bellevue – We have a variety of drop off centers in Bellevue as listed on the recycling in Bellevue page. Hands of the Heartland Recycling center has expanded which is just in time as the Walmart facility closed in late May. In late 2011, the City of Bellevue placed a glass and recycling drop off site near Walmart and over 18 mos collected 50 tons of glass and 50 tons of regular recycling. That site had to be shut down due to the littering that was also occurring, but we have proven that Bellevue wants to recycle our glass (see recycling page for locations to bring glass) and that each month Bellevue businesses and residents who do not have curbside recycling drop off approximately 3 tons of recycling at our local recycling center - diverting it from our landfill.
