Mathematics Curriculum

Prerequisites: At least a C in Algebra 2 

(Half Year - 0.50 Credit) 4445 - Level 2

Discrete mathematics stresses the problem solving and reasoning skills used by decision makers in fields such as business, government, health, manufacturing, information transmission and social choices. Topics chosen from may include counting and probability, graph theory, deductive reasoning, the axiomatic method and finite geometries, and number systems, voting methods, apportionment methods, mathematics of finance, and number theory. A scientific calculator is required for this course. Students taking this course may enroll in The University of Connecticut Early College Experience Program (ECE). As a University of Connecticut Early College Experience course, students should be aware of the demanding work and grading expectations of this course. Please refer to information about the ECE program on page 9 in the Program of Studies. Limited to juniors and seniors only.
